2. Backup devices. Some files eat up a lot of space. You will need good backup solutions to be able to keep your data in one piece. Although the final product of your recording will be a very small file optimized for the Web, you'll still want your raw files backed up and kept in a safe place.
To do this, you will need extra hard disks, may be a tape drive, optical storage and recording equipment. Make sure that every thing you record and compile are saved and stored in a safe place. This is the best way to keep track of your activities for further improvement, and for posterity.
3. Office supplies. You also need office supplies for your planning and execution needs. It is also handy to keep paper pens and other supplies and to aid you in your planning and brainstorming activities.
While most people shy away from planning and go straight to their microphones to do their recording, it always makes sense to prepare for and plan for a podcasts well before the date of recording. This way you are able to maximize your time and create the best quality of podcast you are capable of making.
